Wild Mountain and Hi Tempo Ski Shop have put together a unique program to introduce skiing to beginners. The program is called ‘DISCOVER SKIING’. This innovative two-step program is designed to improve the initial experience for those who are considering skiing for the first time.

Step ONE consists of a 45-minute classroom session that begins at 9:00 am each Saturday at Hi Tempo Ski Shop in White Bear Lake. The class is free, however advance registration is required (call Hi Tempo at 651-429-3333 to register). During the classroom session many of the uncertainties that new skiers face will be addressed. Topics include how to dress, what you do when you arrive at the ski area, rental and ticketing procedures, as well as what will be covered during the on snow lesson. Also covered are options available for future outings. Any questions guests have will be answered at this time. At the end of each session guests receive information on how to make a reservation for a special ‘Discover Skiing Package’ that includes a Beginner Area Lift Pass, Ski Rental and a Basic Lesson during one of the program dates. A reservation must be made at least 24 hours in advance to attend a session at Wild Mountain.

Step TWO takes place on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon at Wild Mountain. Guests must make a reservation at least 24-hours prior to their session (register online or call Wild Mountain at 651-465-6315). Upon arrival at Wild Mountain guests will check-in and be welcomed at the Snowsports School desk, where they will receive a Beginner Area lift pass and be accompanied to the rental shop. A brief overview of the evening’s agenda, as well as assistance thru the rental process will be provided. Once guests are properly outfitted an instructor(s) will begin the lesson. Lessons begin promptly at 4:00 pm, please arrive at least an hour prior to this to allow time to become aquainted, receive your tickets and proceed thru rental. Upon completion of the lesson segment, guests may enjoy the remainder of the evening in the Beginner Area or upgrade to a full area pass. Also at this time guests will be encouraged to continue their quest to ‘Discover Skiing’ by registering for a Master Skiing 1-2-3 program.

Master Skiing 1-2-3 is similar to the Get Hooked on Skiing package, with some flexibility built-in. It includes a lift ticket, rental package and a two-hour lesson on each of the three days guests choose. Guests are able to pick three Saturday afternoon sessions - on days that best fit their personal schedule. Reservations must be made 48 hours in advance with the Snowsports School. Once a guest completes the third session, there are some special offers available to each 'graduate'.

Master Skiing 1-2-3 is only available to guests who have completed Discover Skiing. Discover Skiing is available only thru Hi Tempo Ski Shop. Reservations must be made with Hi Tempo, and guests must complete the introductory session at the store to be eligible to purchase the Discover Skiing Package.
