BOAT PILOT / MANAGEMENT PROGRAM

Job Description

From Deck Hand to Licensed Commercial Boat Captain, our program will lead you every step of the way.  The goals and objectives are specific and your desire to succeed will pave the way to the top of this exciting, one of a kind position.

Since 1906, thousands of tourists have enjoyed the scenic beauty of the world famous Dalles (Dells) of the St. Croix River by way of Taylor’s Falls Scenic Boat Tour’s authentic paddle wheel boats and canoes.

Way; make a great office to start your new journey towards becoming a US Coast Guard Licensed Boat Captain.

Taylors Falls Scenic Boat Tours is also associated with the Taylors Falls Canoe and Kayak Rental, Wildwood RV Park and Campground, and Wild Mountain Recreation Area.  All of our facilities are great places to work.  You will find a friendly, fun, and family oriented atmosphere to work in, and receive great training, competitive wages, and excellent activity perks for all of our activities.

All candidates must be available to work a variety of shifts including days, evenings, weekends and holidays.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

-          Hiring, training, and motivating team members mostly comprised of high school and college students.

-          Perform and lead your team in overall quality of guest service, cleanliness and organization.

-          Begging season set up, end of season shut down.

-          Set up and take down of a variety of excursions and special events.

-          Tie, untie, and prepare boats for various types of excursions.

-          Giving public excursion and group history cruise speeches.

-          Performing opening and closing duties for both boats, snack bars, and  ticket stand.

-          Driving the boats

-          First aid

-          Operation of fire fighting and bilge controls.

REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE:

-          High energy and self motivating.

-          Ability to speak well in public.

-          Good verbal communication skills.

-          Strong mechanical / maintenance knowledge and aptitude.

-          Ability to lift weights in excess of 75 pounds regularly.

-          Ability to be on your feet, walking, standing, etc for the majority of each shift.

-          Have a valid driver’s license with good record.

-          Ability to work outside in all the elements of Minnesota weather.

-          Ability to work a variety of shifts including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Maintenance:  Full time / year 'round position - 

 

 

Maintenance personnel have a wide range of responsibility.  You will be working in your area of experience as well as learning new skills.  You must be willing to take on a wide variety of responsibilities.

 

Responsibilities include:  Maintenance and operations of vehicles, go-karts, 4-wheelers, snow cats, loaders, skidders, water slide pumps and equipment, chair lift and snow machines as well as general building and grounds maintenance.

 

Interested applicants must have some maintenance experience / background and be energetic, willing to take on a wide variety of responsibilities, be physically active and willing to work inside and outside in all weather conditions.

SEASONAL POSITIONS

We are now accepting applications for the following seasonal positions: 

 

 

CHAIR LIFT, ROPE TOW AND CONVEYOR OPERATORS - We are now hirning for Monday - Friday days, all evenings, and weekend shifts for those 16 years of age and older.  If you can handle the outdoor elements, are energetic, have a great work ethic, and work independantly and with a team at times, and enjoy working with the public, this is the team for you.

 

Responsibilities include: Guest service skills, ticket checking, loading and unloading guests safely, and maintaining and recording conditions of the lift equipment and loading and unloading ramps and building and grounds cleanup and organization and opening and closing duties.

 

 

RENTAL SHOP TECHNICIANS - We are now hirnig for Monday-Friday days, all evenings, and weekend shifts for those 16 years of age and older.  If you are responsible, have a good attention to detail, like a fast paced environment and can talk it up with the guests, the rental shop may be a great place for you.

 

Responsibilities include: Great guest service, binding release calculation and adjustment, ski, snowboard, and boot sizing and rental, some cashiering and department and chalet clean up and organization, and opening and closing duties.

 

 

FOOD AND BEVERAGE - We are now hirning for Monday-Friday days, all evenings and weekends for our cafeteria, snack bar, chalet cleanup and Eagles Nest Bar and Grill.  A few positions remain for the best 14 & 15 year old candidates as well.  If you have a great work ethic, high energy level, love to talk to the guests, like a fast paced enviorment that makes the day fly by and want an inside job at a winter recreation area, this may be the department for you.

 

Responsibilities include:  Taking guest orders, collecting payment, working a point of sale system, cooking, cleaning and organizing, complete guest service and / or pouring a beverage or two.

 

 

EQUIPMENT CORRAL - We have just a couple of positions available for the best candidates 14 years of age and older.  You must be available most weekend days throughout the season.  If you want to get in the door, learn about the business and get that season pass this may be your spot.  The ideal candidate must be good with numbers, have good attention to detail, be responsible, be able to work independantly and with a team, have a postivie attitude and be able to talk openly and confidently with guets.

 

Responsibilities include:  Overall Guest Service, accepting and returning guests equipment safely, clean up and organization of department, grounds, and chalet, following opening and closing check lits, and problem solving skills.

 

 

TICKET COUNTER -  This position is for the most positive, outgoing, energetic and personable team member.

 

Responsibilities include: Ultimate guest service, selling tickets, shop items, lessons, and season passes, assit with group check-in, helping guests with concerns, questions, locker and video game solutions, assisting the sales team with answering phones and other administrative office projects, chalet and facilty organization and clean up, and completing opening and closing duties.

 

 

 

SNOW MAKERS / MAINTENANCE- Make snow and perform a wide range of general building, ground, and equipment maintenance.  Typical shifts run 7:30-5:30 until snow making beings then 8PM-8AM while making snow.

SNOWSPORTS INSTRUCTORS- If you love to ski or snowboard and would enjoy helping others learn new skills on the slopes, this may be the winter job you've been looking for.  Our flexible hours make it easy to teach while also going to school or maintaining your full time job.  If you are interested in joining our Snowsports Team, please complete and application and send it to the attention of Mark Dunsworth, Snowsports School Director by October 31, 2014. 

 

Responsibilities include:  Treat guest service, competent intermediate or advanced skier or snowboarder, must have positive attitude, be outgoing and friendly, work well independently and with a team.  Must always maintain a public image of accessibility and will be an ambassador for Wild Mountain.  Only need to commit to one shift per week.  No PSIA, ASSI, or other teaching certification necessary. This email address is being protected from spambots.
